The Outdoor Gear Exchange will try to sell your used gear for you.
We accept technical clothing, hiking shoes, climbing gear, sleeping bags and pads. We also take more seasonally specific items such as telemark skis and snowshoes. We only accept gear that is seasonally appropriate; we accept shorts in summer or telemark skis in winter. Any type of item or gear that you see on our web pages may be eligible for consignment with us. Please note that we do not accept alpine skis or snowboards. If you are not sure if your gear is seasonally appropriate or eligible for consignment please ask one of our staff members if they think we would accept it before bringing it in to the store. All items need to be clean and functioning; boots need laces & insoles, sleeping bags need stuff sacks, and all zippers need to function properly. We reserve the right to refuse anything that we deem to be in poor condition do to use or cleanliness
Update 9/8/11: We are no longer taking in any summer goods for this season. Please wait until next spring to bring your shorts, tees, tanks, kayaks, or bike related gear. We are now accepting skis, bindings, tele/xc boots, snowshoes, ice axes, ice screws, goggles, etc in good condition in for consignment. No super long or straight skis. Also no SuperComps.
Payment: Consignee will receive 75% of what the item sells for in store credit on a personal OGE account. The consignee may exchange that store credit for cash or check to 65% of the selling price. The Outdoor Gear Exchange reserves the right to discount items up to 10%, consider this when suggesting pricing your items. All items must be discounted a minimum of 20% of the suggested retail price. The OGE is not responsible for damages incurred while an item is on consignment. There is a 12-day waiting period before payment becomes available to allow for potential returns. Stolen Items will be paid out at their lowest price after 12 days. Although unlikely, if after 6 months any or all of the consigned items remain unsold the Outdoor Gear Exchange has the right re-price the item(s) to sell, and after 1 year has the option to donate said item(s) to charity.
How to do it: Look over the items you wish to consign to insure they are clean, functioning, and that you didn’t leave anything in the pockets. Make a list of the items, including the manufacturer, brief description of the item, size, and gender if appropriate with a suggested price you would like the item to sell for. Include you name address and a contact phone number and a good time to call you at that number. Remember you will get 75% of what the item sells for in store credit or 65% in cash or check. Call Ryan at the Outdoor Gear Exchange first for a consignment authorization. Please contact Ryan at (888) 547-4327 ext. 302 or email him: ryan (at) gearx.com . Then mail the items you wish to consign to:
Outdoor Gear Exchange
Attn: Consignment
37 Church Street
Burlington, VT 05401
You will get a return phone call upon our receipt of the item to work out the specifics of the item pricing. You will be responsible for the shipping charges of any items we consider unfit to sell or we if we can’t agree upon a price to sell the item for, so please call us if you any concerns about the item you wish to consign. Thank you.
