Ideal for ambitious days when the mercury plummets, this warm mid-layer features composite materials that provide balanced warmth and breathability. The arms and torso are fortified with Coreloft™ insulation, and the side panels and underarms incorporate Polartec® Power Stretch® with Hardface® Technology to increase mobility and breathability. A wind and moisture resistant outer shell extends stand-alone usability.
What really distinguishes these Atom series jackets from the competition - which you can't tell from the pictures - is how they feel to the touch. The exclusive fabric that Arc'Teryx uses to contain their Coreloft insulation, as well as the compressible nature of Coreloft itself, result in a jacket that feels (in the words of one GearX staffer) "like magic." It's softer to the touch than the shiny Pertex-style fabrics used on many competing insulated jackets, and not quite as smooth, but throughly pleasing. If you've never had your hands on one of these Coreloft pieces, you should try it.

Ever since their founding in Vancouver in 1989, Arc’Teryx has been producing products that demonstrate their philosophy of evolution in action. The company’s mascot, Archaeopteryx Lithographica, was the first reptile to sprout feathers and free itself from the constraints of the horizontal world. LikeArchaeopteryx, Arc’Teryx is constantly pursuing new innovations that allow you to do the same.
GearX.com customers often ask why Arc’Teryx items are comparatively expensive. The answer is that unlike other brands which try to hit many different price points for many different customers, Arc’Teryx goes all-out in design and materials on every item they make, whether it’s a mountaineering shell or a cotton t-shirt. This uncompromising commitment to making the best items possible is the true value of the brand.

Great Versatile Layer
I own this in the hooded version but whether or not you choose a hood you will soon realize how awesome of a layer this jacket really is. Comfortable and wind resistant enough to wear like your favorite sweatshirt in fall or in spring, yet breathable and stretchy enough to wear while climbing ice or rock. This jacket weighs 11.5 ounces and packs down to next to nothing; the 60g of coreloft is the perfect amount of warmth without being too hot. This is the only layer that literally never leaves my pack or car.
