Backcountry Biff America Anthology

The Biff America Anthology is a collection of writings Jeffrey Bergeron has done under the alias Biff America. Biff's column has been one of the most popular in Backcountry for over a decade, and he is a well-known host on Resort Sports Network (RSN) and on KOA radio. Biff was surprised and even a little humbled by the prospect of authoring his first book.

"When Backcountry approached me about publishing a book, I thought to myself, ‘Who would have thunk it My high school teachers never thought Id ever read a book let alone write one,” he said. “I assumed Backcountrys Editor, Howie, was pulling my leg with the concept (like the time he put superglue in my Preparation H tube). But when I heard that he put his unmounted K2 Jerry Launchers on ebay to cover the publishing costs, I could hardly decline.”

Biff's writing embraces the human condition and the spirit of the mountains. He serves up caffeinated commentary and thoughtful meditations on avalanche awareness, mountain living, and how to avoid a life of perilous mediocrity. Nothing flies below Biff's radar despite his living at over 9,500 feet in Breckenridge, Colorado; family, politics, religion, love and sex are all fair game. He is poignant without being snotty and as brutally honest with himself as he is with his readers. Biff will make you laugh out loud or leave you in contemplative silence, but he will never put you to sleep.

Backcountry Publisher Jon Howard said expanding the magazine's mission to publishing books was a natural step. “The components to publishing magazines are the same for books," he said. "We've got talented writers, an editorial staff, design, photography, and a proven distribution network all in house at Backcountry."
