This year the Navis Freebird is 400g lighter per pair thanks to the Freebird Gene 2 chassis - a paulownia and poplar wood core, covered in three and two directional carbon and glass fibre. Black Crows have also reduced the turning radius to 19m which is better suited to ski touring. Otherwise, the Navis Freebird has much the same qualities as the regular Navis: it’s square and mildly rockered tail adds play in soft snow while retaining its classic alpine behaviour on harder snow, while a long front rocker makes it easier to get into turns quickly in tight spots and initiate with ease in the soft stuff.
