Most Valuable Gear: Mammut Trea Guide

A versatile, fully-featured alpine pack with a women's specific fit!

For a long day of ice climbing or alpine ascents, carrying a full rack of gear out to the crag, or for technical backcountry skiing missions, a high-performance, fully-featured pack is a necessity. The Mammut Trea Guide is an excellent alpine pack with essential climbing attributes and durable, workhorse construction, as well as a specifically designed fit tailored for a women's body shape.

Here are 3 reasons why we love the Mammut Trea Guide:

1. Multi-functional Design Optimal for a Variety of Technical Activities

The Mammut Trea Guide is a true alpine pack with a versatile, essential feature-set for alpinism and mountain sports. At its core the Trea Guide is a climbing pack. Featuring two ice tool attachments, a front crampon pocket, a detachable hipbelt, and a rope carry strap, the Trea Guide can hold all of the gear that you need for a day of ice or rock climbing. Additionally, the Trea Guide has a reinforced A-frame ski carry system, making it an excellent pack for long ski mountaineering trips and backcountry tours. Super durable nylon fabrics ensure that this pack can take the kind of beating that the mountains deliver and keep kicking. Also, the Trea Guide is available in a 30 or 40 liter size, so you can get the most effective pack for your favorite activities.

 2. Unique, Comfortable Frame and Suspension System

When wearing your pack for an extended period of time, it's crucial that it has a good suspension system and frame to support and properly distribute any weight that you put into it. The Trea Guide benefits from Mammut's butterfly suspension system, which incorporates a lightweight aluminum frame that is anatomically pre-shaped and torsionally flexible for a comfortable fit. The frame distributes pack weight efficiently across the hips, while still allowing freedom of movement in the shoulders and arms.  Additionally, anatomically shaped shoulder straps fit well and allow unrestricted movement while climbing.

3. Women's Specific Design

For female climbers, skiers and alpinists, unisex or men's outdoor gear often does not fit ideally. For packs in particular, women may find that the shoulder straps on most packs are a little too wide or the hip belt does not sit where they want it to in order to effectively transfer pack weight.  Mammut offers women's specific models of many of their packs to accommodate for these issues and to ensure an optimal fit and performance. The Trea Guide features a slightly modified torso height to accommodate average female torso length, as well as a specifically shaped hipbelt and shoulder straps to enhance the fit.
