Trip Report: Skiing in a Hurricane!

“Skiing in a hurricane” is a phrase you don’t hear too often. In fact, I never really considered in until Hurricane Sandy came on the radar.

Not too long ago Hurricane Sandy was wreaking havoc on the Mid Atlantic and Northeast. Many parts of New York City experienced serious flooding and damage. This was the worst thing to happen to the Jersey Shore since MTV decided to make a Reality … Read more >>

Trip Report: A Weekend In Baxter State Park

Katahdin

This is a trip report from Baxter State Park, a beautiful wilderness littered with lakes and mountains. Home of Mount Katahdin, the highest peak in Maine and the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. Many Appalachian Trail thru-hikers hike south to north, finishing in Baxter State Park, because the earlier spring down south allows you to begin a thru hike while there is still snow on the mountains … Read more >>

Trip Report: Roger’s Rock

Two of our charismatic OGE employees recently had the chance to do a local climb they had long been waiting to do. Matt and Spencer, a sales associate and a warehouse monkey, respectively, headed down to Lake George over in NY state for a day of paddling and climbing at Roger’s Rock.

This climb is super cool because you need to paddle out around an island to the slab rising … Read more >>

Hiking & Camping In The Adirondacks

Elk Lake

A Night In The Dacks

By far, the best thing about living in Burlington, VT is the accessibility to the outdoors. To our west we have Lake Champlain with Adirondacks as a backdrop, to our east we have the Green Mountains. A couple weekends back, I did an overnight hike in the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks with a fellow employee, Dave. We brought along our significant … Read more >>
