About Morgan

I was born and raised in a little Maryland town somewhere between Baltimore and Fredrick.  I spent the first twenty years of my life in that town.  Much of my childhood was spent getting stuck in briar patches in the woods at the end of my street.

All the experience with briars served me well in the eight years I spent doing volunteer search and rescue in the Mid Atlantic region.  I've lost count of the number of missing person searches that I've responded to, but SAR is the reason that I managed to stay involved in the backcountry year round.  From the briars I graduated to hiking on the Appalachian trail and preparations for technical evacuations got me interested in rock climbing.

I've been backpacking for eight years, climbing on and off for five, gone caving and sea kayaking a couple of times and discovered a deep and abiding hatred for bugs that bite.  Until very recently I haven't considered myself a skier but I do love the winter, and like to stomp around on my snowshoes.

Since graduating from UVM I have found a new home at the Outdoor Gear Exchange where I'm currently helping to develop GearX.com.
