My opinion is that the most important part of the conversation is how the boot fits. Double boots sure have their place on certain expeditions, but most users will be undoubtedly pleased with how well these Baturas perform, assuming a proper fit. These boots are fantastic, warm, and very sensitive compared to double boots. I will add, however, that this version of the Batura is the heaviest yet, heavier than earlier generation Baturas and heavier than the newest baturas with carbon midsoles and GoreTex membrane in the gaiter. Sweet new baturas. But i rock these regularly, and love them.

Just the facts no disrespect

Just wanted to rebut Staffer Morgan's above review.

The single-boot Baturas at 983 grams are only slightly lighter than a plastic double-boot like the Koflach Degre at 1077 grams ( a difference of about 3 ounces ).

Yes, 3 ounces lifted a few thousand times throughout a day... a week... or longer is worth it in my opinion. But even still, a boot like the Scarpa Omega (which is a double-boot) is lighter than the Baturas by almost 2 ounces.

All gripes about grams and ounces aside, I have both plastic double-boots and a pair of these Baturas and the comfort is unparalleled. Unless I plan to stand around all day, and/or expecting extremely cold temperatures, the Baturas are my first choice when heading out for ice climbing or winter hikes. My ankles feel better, my feet feel better, and I'm overall a happier camper.

Thanks,

I took these beauties up into the Presidential Range in New Hampshire early one March, which is a trip that normally I wouldn't attempt without double boots. These boots though; obviously lighter than any double boot. Plenty warm; they froze overnight on our last day, while in the vestibule of the tent, but warmed right up once I started walking again. If I were going to do it again I would take vapor barrier liners to control the moisture build up.
