Description

In Vermont, sledding is serious business. If ever there were a place where the untapped potential of sledding as a sport could be unleashed, it would be here. And that's why a group of friends in Vermont's Mad River Valley - prime sledding territory - set out to create a sled that would offer what cheap toy store sleds and big, uncontrollable toboggans couldn't. And so the Mad River Rocket was born.

Before we tell you how much fun these sleds are, note that we can't do free shipping on them. Sorry. But they're totally worth it.

Drawing inspiration from whitewater canoes and powder skis, the Mad River Rocket is far more controllable and maneuverable than your garden-variety toy store sled. You kneel on the sled and steer by leaning, using your hands for stabilization. The design of the sled's hull makes it easy to execute sharp turns, which is essential for dodging trees on forested hillsides in Vermont and everywhere else. The plush kneepads soften landings, and the knee strap ensures that you and your sled come back to earth together. Some well-practiced MRR riders have even developed quite a repertoire of aerial tricks on the sleds; it's very impressive, but just like with skiing, try some small jumps first before you aim for the skies.

The model of Mad River Rocket pictured here, the Killer B, is the original model and the flagship of the MRR product line. We also offer a smaller kids' version called the Stinger, which is sized for people under 100lbs.

Features:
  • Black shell with yellow ribbed kneepads
  • padded black strap, and red bolts
  • Mark your sled on the strap plate using a permanent marker.
  • Made in the USA from recycled materials.
  • One year warranty
  • Replacement parts available

Please note that Mad River Rockets are an oversized item and thus do not qualify for free shipping.  If you would like to purchase multiple sleds and have them shipped to you, please call for a shipping quote. DIY Pulk

With a little work these things can be used to make your own pulk, which is a pretty cool 2 for 1.

So much fun, I'm surprised it's legal.

Well constructed and durable. I've had my original Rocket since 1999, and it's still tearing up the trails and woods. Heavy gauge plastic with deep runners and hard chine, with a high powder scoop front for deep powder. I love these things and bought a couple more for the fleet to share with friends!

wicked fun

One ride down the Sherbie Ski trail out of Tuckerman's ravine will have anybody sold on these sleds!

Best Sleds

the mad river rockets are incredible, and a necessity for anyone interested in "extreme" sledding. You're strapped in, and there are thick knee pads, and the amount of control you have in them is unparalleled by any other sleds. Totally worth the price, and they are very durable and will last for years if you take care of them. here is a video of me using one that can show what they are capable of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgVB0VaUlCs

Super Slick

Awsome sled

Wasn't sure when I first got it. Went sledding with my daughter. Love it. Many people asked me about it and where I got it. I highly recommend. Awesome that you can hit jumps, bumps, drop offs and the sled stays with you. I would recommend this sled to anybody.

Awesome!

This thing is fantastic... Although it seems like a lot of money, its well worth it
