Description

On one unusually cold October morning in the Adirondacks, your author awoke on the shores of Long Lake and fervently wished that he had brought a Mammut Rime Pro jacket along with him. It's one of the warmest synthetic-fill insulated jackets that GearX carries, and it's ideal for trips where you are bound to encounter cold and damp conditions.

As one of the most substantial synthetic-fill jackets in our inventory, the Rime Pro shines best as an outer layer, rather than a midlayer to be worn under a shell; you can wear it on an unexpectedly cold canoe trip, or put it on when it's your turn to belay at a roadside ice-climbing spot.
Warmth-wise, the Rime Pro isn't the thickest synthetic belay parka in the world, but it is superbly compressible, so it is a great piece for trips that occasionally require warmth-on-demand and have the potential to wet out your gear, whether by precipitation or immersion. Once the temperature dips below 20 degrees and heads for the zero mark, though, we might reach for something heavier.
