A versatile, heavyweight 2-layer shell made with stretch fabric, the Golden Point jacket is a Millet favorite that provides protection and comfort for skiing, mountain walking, and just about any other activity that doesn't involve stuffing it in a backpack.

Don't be put off when we say that this is a "heavyweight" jacket. Sure, tissue-thin ultralight pieces are all the rage these days, but there's still plenty to be said for a comfortable, durable garment that has a good protective feeling for everyday use. 2-layer construction makes the Golden Point a comfortable piece to throw on over a regular shirt for general winter wear, and it offers plenty of room to layer up for a day at the ski hill. The hood can either be rolled up and stowed in the collar or zipped off entirely when not needed.

Originally founded as a manufacturer of shopping bags and haversacks in the early 1920s, Millet gained great experience with backpack manufacturing during World War II and by 1950 was equipping the French expeditions to the Himalayas. The ascent of Annapurna by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal in that year - the first-ever ascent over 8,000 meters - vaulted Millet backpacks to even greater prominence, and in the decades that followed they made many further innovations in the backpack field, and also branched out into mountaineering clothing, sleeping bags, footwear, and climbing ropes.

Today, after 60 years of expeditions, Millet remains faithful to its roots and offers each mountaineer, hiker, and skier the opportunity to outfit themselves head-to-toe in true French style.
