A rainy day on a camping trip usually puts people in a bad mood, but owners of NEMO tents have the opposite feeling - they love any excuse to bask in the glow emitted by the company's signature Birch Leaf Green rainflys. And that soothing interior ambiance is only one of NEMO's many clever design features that will help you feel right at home in the wilderness.
The Espri 2 is the middle model of NEMO's two-person tent family, between the ultra-light (and ultra-small) Obi and the luxurious, vertical-walled Losi. The Espri is tall at the door end, the poles angling sharply as they reach peak height, and tapered both in height and width towards the foot end. This design maximizes volume where it is needed, while conserving weight. The raised waterproof tub of Espri™ LE has a dramatic upswept shape to it corresponding to cutouts in the rain fly, a signature design element of NEMO tents. These cutouts allow air circulation during humid summer monsoons, while the raised tub keeps the rain out.
The vestibule of the Espri gives you lots of options to balance weight and storage space. The tent comes with a vestibule-less Ultralight Fly Door for the gram counters out there, as well as a Standard Vestibule. Each option zips on and off, so that you can take whichever is best for your trip. NEMO also sells separately a Trekking Pole Vestibule that nearly doubles the size of the Standard Vestibule for a few extra ounces.
The materials used on the Espri are first-rate. Owners of this and similar NEMO tent models rave about how the floor will survive accidental encounters with cacti and dog claws despite how thin it is, and the floor's strong waterproof coating has led to stories about users feeling like they're "sleeping on a waterbed" as runoff flows beneath it, while the occupants remain perfectly dry. That's a tent you can have confidence in!
