Sterling Marathon 8.8MMx60M Dry Half Rope

Shaky pro, zigzagging pitches, sharp rock require the confidence and the security of half-ropes. Designed to be used in pairs, half ropes allow the leader to alternately clip into gear, while providing more safty for the second on long traverses. And, they provide the security of an extra rope in areas where rock fall or sharp edges could cut a rope. the 8.8 combines lower impact forces of a smaller diameter rope with the security of two ropes in event of a fall. This lightweight rope with its thicker, more durable sheath has become the proven choice of top alpinist and mountaineers.

Sterling ropes are designed to be firm, round, strong, and durable. Through our innovative Better Braid Technology and Precision Manufacturing, we put more twist in each sheath yarn. This process exposes less yarn to abrasion, so the sheath won't fuzz up over time. In addition, twist aligns the sheath yarns more in the direction of the load during a fall. More twist in the core yarns reduces the impact force and gives our ropes high fall ratings- two key factors to look for when buying a rope.

Most unique about all Sterling ropes is DryCore. DryCore is the name we give our cores because we make them with a special fiber from AlliedSignal called SeaGard, which greatly inhibits the absorption of moisture. DryCore is an integral component of each and every rope and cannot wear off, giving you maxium protction with out the added cost of dry treatment. Since dry is light, if you want the best moisture protection, we recommend Sterling Dry Dynamics which feature a dry treated sheath and DryCore.
