Great all around shoe
Very comfortable all around shoe. Has a really nice tacky rubber soul so it can be used as an approach shoe, but I also use it as a casual shoe. Can be worn all day without custom insoles. Definitely not a wide shoe but not super narrow either. Fits pretty true to size.
Heart of an Approach shoe with comfort for every day

Heart of an Approach shoe with comfort for every dayI am not an approach shoe wear-er by nature, but the Grand Traverse intrigued me and has started to become a day to day "go to" shoe. It is a technical light hiker in disguise and since Vasque didn't overbuild this shoe it remains lightweight and flexible. The build quality is top notch and I am comfortable wearing it every day since they built a solid upper with a nice rubber toe rand (I hate shoes that fall apart with regular day to day use). I appreciate how they minimized the mesh on the upper so they are easy to brush off after a scramble, but have enough airy material so I don't my feet don't swelter if I wear them inside for work. We keep the temperature "cozy" around these parts, so a cool shoe is a must if I wear it inside on the sales floor. I am typically a size 12 in shoes and the Grand Traverse was no exception. Despite having a more pointed toe box the fit is not overly tight and the lacing down to the toe gives one ample ability to modify the fit. While my trail experience in the shoes is limited, I have been impressed by the grip of the Vibram outsole and appreciate the climbing zone. I think this shoe stands out in this category as it has flexibility and lightweightness that some of the chunk-ier approach shoes can only aspire to (Boulder X, new version of 5.10 Guide Tennie, etc.) Oh, and again, don't forget that this shoe is a very capable light hiker!
Full disclosure: I work as the Footwear specialist at the Outdoor Gear Exchange and received a free pair of Grand Traverses from Vasque to test and evaluate.
