Yates Ice Screamers use the standard screamer and adds a convenient tie off cinch for ice screws half buried. An activation force of 2kN rips the stitching out and reduces the shock loading of those already precarious ice screw placements. The runner strength is 26kN.

I took a 10 foot lead fall onto a 16cm screw on Redstone Pillar in Redstone, CO and the stitching activated. That was the softest lead fall I have ever taken! I weigh 190 with gear and all of the stitching pulled. It was a nice piece of mind knowing that the system worked. I don't know if it was absolutely necessary to use, but these things help my lead head. (Posted on 2/22/11)
